JCLI Contract
Following the success of the JCLI and CDM07 seminar in October 2007, LIW are currently arranging a CPD event for November 2008. A presentation on the new version of the JCLI form of contract will be given by Colin Moore. Date and venue to be confirmed.
Welsh Policy Officer
Annie Millen was appointed as acting Welsh Policy Officer in June to continue the excellent progress made by Catherine Jenkins, whilst she is on maternity leave. Annie has hit the ground running and is actively maintaining Landscape on the agenda at the Regeneration Skills Collective, the Sustainable Development Commission and the Design Commission for Wales. Our members in Wales will no doubt appreciate the regular e-mails from Annie relating to news and events.
Events
Pathway to Chartership (P2C) study group
A study group has been established to bring P2C candidates together. The group meet monthly at Bar33, in Windsor Place in Cardiff and provide an informal opportunity to reinforce understanding of study areas through discussion. Recently formed, the group have agreed to set a revision topic each month and to structure the meetings around prepared questions to get discussion moving.
We would welcome any new candidates to join the group as well as qualified members to join or host some sessions on topics on which they feel comfortable or knowledgeable. The next meeting is 29th October, 6.30pm. For further information, contact Devi or Richard at info@liwales.org.uk.
Other CPD events
LIW is committed to arranging CPD events relevant to members, which focus on key, relevant topics and themes. Two recent events have focused on the Heads of the Valleys region. The first event was a presentation by Berry Coffman from Groundwork Wales on the Valleys Regional Park held on 20th may 2008. This was followed by a tour of The Work in Ebbw Vale by Project Director of The Works, Richard Crook on 20 August 2008. It provided a first hand opportunity to see progress with the reclamation of the Ebbw Vale Steel Works. The LIW hope to follow up these events by an update next year. A further event continuing the Heads of the Valleys theme is planned later in the year – topic, date and venue to be confirmed.
