Sharrow School - roof garden

This brand new school amalgamates separate infant and junior schools which were previously split across two sites. Central to the design was the intention to provide external spaces off each classroom and that the internal and external places complimented each other.

A bio diverse green roof is incorporated to demonstrate ecologically sound development and to provide an educational resource for children. Community groups and any other organisations interested in learning about green roof technology. There is also a bio diversity teaching terrace providing a smaller example of the main roof habitat for teaching purposes.

The collaboration between architect, landscape architect and artist has resulted in a building which connects exceptionally well both physically and visually with its surroundings and is a delight for teachers and pupils alike.
